While their name indicates a smaller size, our miniature tilt sensors still pack a punch when it comes to performance. Despite the dimensions, these sensors offer exceptional resolution down to 0.1µrad (<0.000006 deg) and are among our best-selling solutions for ultra-precision tilt measurements. Some are even vacuum compatible, such as our 755 & 756 (-VAC) models.
To achieve this high performance, it is essential to pair these devices with compatible electronics. Jewell Instruments signal conditioners have been designed to get the most out of our sensor capabilities. Purchasing a signal conditioner together with the sensor does much more than customers may be aware of:
- The signal conditioner powers the miniature tilt sensors
- Signal conditioning electronics drive a balanced AC excitation signal to the sensor element, ensuring proper operation.
- This signal is amplified and rectified to produce a high-resolution DC Voltage, 4-20mA, or Digital (RS232/RS422) output
- The output signal (voltage, current or digital) is determined by which signal conditioner the customer picks
- The tilt sensor and signal conditioner are calibrated together as a set, which helps ensure that we meet or exceed the specs shown on the datasheet. A copy of the calibration report is shipped with each set
- When purchased together, a pick kit is added to the order (at no additional cost) that includes any cable assembly needed for the connections
- Without a signal conditioner, it is possible that the user can mishandle and potentially damage the mini tilt sensor; a signal conditioner will help ensure proper operation and protect the device from such issues.
- If a user has difficulty collecting data without the use of a signal conditioner, it could be difficult to troubleshoot and identify whether the root cause is the sensor, the customer’s testing equipment, or mishandling of the product.
- Our signal conditioners are usually only a fraction of the miniature tilt sensor cost, so customers get excellent value for a reliable solution.
We do not recommend purchasing the tilt sensor separately from the signal conditioner, as the calibration data from the sensor is used to fine-tune the compatibility with the signal conditioner.
