ECV-IMU Inertial Measurement Unit

Jewell Instruments’ offers ECV-IMU Series initial measurement units which assure high accuracy in a small package. This inertial measurement unit is a cost efficient, low power consuming device which provides stable azimuth, pitch, and roll measurements in dynamic conditions. This sensor consists of 3-axis angular rate gyros, 3-axis accelerometer, 3-axis magnetometer, and optional 2-axis electrolytic tilt sensor. These IMUs have a wide operating range and are factory calibrated. Hence, they offer an accurate and fast output through RS-485.

About IMU

The standard Electronic Compass products contain 3 axes of acceleration, angular rate (gyro) and magnetometer. Software in the microprocessor calculates and outputs heading, pitch and roll based on the combination of the sensors. The IMU (inertial measurement unit) is a compliment of 3 axes of accelerometers, gyro’s and magnetometers. With the ECV-IMU version, the data can be independently output from the individual sensors. The outputs are presented as the individual sensors themselves (ie: acceleration, angular rate and azimuth (orientation with respect to north). There are no calculations to determine heading, pitch or roll internal to the IMU. The IMU is meant for customers who will perform their own calculations in their system.

At Jewell Instruments, we focus on accuracy and precision for our IMU inertial measurement unit. We have a market presence of over 60 years and have worked with clients from diverse industries. This has helped us develop expertise in advanced sensors and precision sensing and measurement equipment. Our IMU inertial measurement unit is designed and equipped to meet the required precision in your measurement. If you have an application that might require an IMU, we can help you.
