The D4141GE module is a cost-effective solution for generating an analog output control signal from a GE Fanuc Series 32i, Model B, CNC machine. Industrial CNC machines often require the ability to generate signals for controlling external devices such as DC motors, annunciators and more. These control signals can be generated using internal boards, cards or external devices connected to the CNC machine.
The D4141GE easily connects to the GE Fanuc 32i, Model B, using a serial RS-232 interface and enhanced firmware that supports commands from the machine’s internal “Manual Guide I” programming environment. These commands, and their data values, are used by the D4141GE module to generate DC voltage control signals. The D4141GE module contains an isolated high resolution 12-bit digital to analog converter for generating +/-10Vdc voltage signals. The module requires a DC power supply to operate and includes advanced features for improved system safety. The advanced features include a communications watchdog timer, and a user-programmable starting value. The starting value can be programmed to automatically set the voltage signal to a known “safe” condition on power-up, or in the event of a communications failure. Ensuring that devices like motors will not remain “on” if the communications connection was severed.
The D4141GE also contains three discrete digital inputs for monitoring signals such as contact closures from switches, relays, or other on/off signals. Two of the digital inputs can be configured as manual control inputs to locally raise or lower the voltage output signal. This safety feature may be very beneficial in applications where the module is remote from the host and the control voltage needs to be commanded locally to avoid a certain condition.
The D4141GE can be easily mounted on a cabinet wall using the supplied mounting hardware, or a DIN-Rail using the MK-1 mounting kit.
